₹1,38,000 subsidy. Your out-of-pocket: ~₹42,000.
The Central and Odisha State subsidies combined make a 3 kW on-grid system the most subsidised home improvement in India right now. We are an empaneled vendor — your subsidy claim will be processed.
Central subsidy (PM Surya Ghar)

What is an on-grid solar system?
An on-grid (grid-tied) system connects your solar panels to the electricity grid through an inverter. During daylight, your panels power your home first; any surplus flows to the grid and earns you a credit on your electricity bill. At night or on cloudy days, you draw from the grid normally — but your annual bill is dramatically lower.
This is the system type eligible for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy and the Odisha State additional grant. It has no batteries, which keeps the cost low and the payback period short.

How the subsidies work — step by step
- 1
Register on the PM Surya Ghar national portal
Applicant registers at pmsuryaghar.gov.in using Aadhaar, electricity consumer number, and bank account details. We do this on your behalf.
- 2
DISCOM application and technical feasibility
Your DISCOM (TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL, or TPWODL depending on your district) verifies your connection's capacity and approves the system size. We submit all technical drawings.
- 3
Installation by an empaneled vendor
Only installations done by PMSGY-empaneled vendors like M-Lite are eligible for subsidy disbursement. This is a hard requirement — not optional.
- 4
Net meter installation and DISCOM inspection
After installation, the DISCOM installs a bidirectional net meter and conducts a commissioning inspection. We coordinate this entire process.
- 5
Subsidy claim filed on national portal
M-Lite files the subsidy claim with all required documentation: installation certificate, inspection report, bank details. Disbursement takes 30–60 days.
- 6
Money arrives in your bank account
The Central subsidy (up to ₹78,000) and Odisha State subsidy (up to ₹60,000) are credited separately, directly to your registered bank account — no intermediary.
What's included in every on-grid installation
- Free pre-installation site survey and load assessment
- BIS-certified monocrystalline PERC / TOPCon panels
- Grid-tied string inverter (5-year warranty)
- Hot-dip galvanised / anodised aluminium mounting structure
- DC and AC cables, MCBs, earthing
- PM Surya Ghar portal registration and KYC
- DISCOM net metering application and follow-up
- DISCOM commissioning inspection co-ordination

Why empanelment matters
The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is disbursed only for systems installed by vendors registered on the national PM Surya Ghar portal and empaneled by the state nodal agency. If you install through a non-empaneled contractor — even a well-known brand — your subsidy claim will be rejected.
M-Lite Solar is PMSGY-empaneled and registered on the national PM Surya Ghar portal. Before signing with any installer, ask to see their empanelment and verify it at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

It is the Government of India's national rooftop solar scheme launched in 2024. It provides a direct subsidy of ₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹78,000 per household. The scheme also provides up to 300 units of free electricity per month for households with up to a 3 kW system that generate enough solar power.
-
The Odisha Cabinet approved an additional state financial assistance in January 2025: ₹25,000/kW for the first 2 kW, ₹10,000 for the 3rd kW, capped at ₹60,000. This is stacked on top of the Central subsidy, giving Odisha residents the best combined subsidy in India.
-
No. M-Lite handles the entire subsidy process: PM Surya Ghar portal registration, KYC, DISCOM application, inspection, net meter installation, and claim filing. The subsidy amount is credited directly from the government to your registered bank account.
-
Net metering allows you to export surplus solar electricity to the DISCOM grid. The exported units are credited to your bill at the applicable buyback rate. On sunny months you accumulate credits; on cloudy months or nights you draw from the grid and use those credits. Odisha's net metering policy allows annual settlement.
-
No — standard on-grid systems are required by regulation to shut down during grid outages (anti-islanding protection). This prevents electricity from being fed back into lines that a utility worker may be servicing. If you need backup power, choose a hybrid system with battery storage.

A typical 400 W panel is about 2 m × 1 m. A 3 kW system needs 7–8 panels, requiring roughly 14–18 sq m of clear south-facing roof. Our site survey will give you an exact number based on your roof geometry, obstructions, and sun path.
