HYBRID SOLAR

Solar savings. Battery backup. Best of both.

Grid-connected for net metering and lower bills. Battery-backed for power during outages. Partial subsidy eligible.

How a hybrid system works

Daytime (sunny)

Solar panels power your home directly. Surplus charges the battery. If both are full, surplus flows to the grid for net metering credit.

Evening / night

Battery discharges to power your home. When battery reaches its minimum, the system seamlessly switches to grid power.

Grid outage

The system isolates from the grid and runs entirely on solar + battery. Your critical loads stay powered with no manual intervention.

On-grid vs. hybrid — which is right for you?

On-Grid Hybrid
Full PM Surya Ghar + State subsidy ✓ Yes ~ Partial (solar only)
Works during power cuts ✗ No ✓ Yes
Net metering ✓ Yes ✓ Yes
Lower upfront cost ✓ Yes ✗ Higher (battery)
Short payback period ✓ 2–4 years ~ 4–7 years
Best for Reliable grid areas Frequent outage areas

If your area has fewer than 4 hours of daily outages, on-grid gives a better financial return. Above 4 hours, hybrid starts making sense. Our engineer will give you a specific recommendation after the site survey.

Partially. The solar generation component is eligible but battery costs are not covered by the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. The Central and Odisha State subsidies are calculated on the solar capacity (kW) only, not on the battery size. We calculate the exact eligible amount during your survey.

It depends on your load and battery size. A 5 kWh battery running a fan, LED lights, and a router will last 6–8 hours. A 10 kWh battery with the same load lasts 12–16 hours. We size the battery to your critical load, not your peak load.

A UPS charges from the grid only. A hybrid solar inverter prioritises solar charging of the battery first, uses solar to power loads directly during the day, and only draws from the grid when solar and battery are insufficient. This dramatically reduces grid consumption and electricity bills.

LiFePO₄ batteries are rated for 3,000–6,000 charge/discharge cycles at 80% DoD. With daily cycling, that translates to 8–12 years. They carry a 5-year manufacturer warranty from our suppliers.
